The story behind my latest painting. Wayne is retired Navy. He has served our country during peace and war. The stories he can tell of his experiences overseas are extraordinary. Nowadays, on any given day, you can find him walking their farm or maintaining their century old farmstead. But tonight he gets a rest from those things. It's stormy outside, the power is out, and the backup light source provides a quiet retreat from normal activities. His companions do not mind at all. Conner, laying on the back of the chair, barely missed the animal shelter. Only by chance that a vet tech asked the owner for the only orange boy in the litter. Conner's luck didn't stop there. Even after being told he was not the pick of the litter, Lori and Wayne gave him his forever home. After they brought Conner home, he didn't leave Wayne's shoulder for quite a while. All three agree that he actually was the pick of the litter. Martin, down at the bottom, was given to the vet clinic by his owner to find him a good home. When Wayne and Lori saw him it was instant love. As you see, he has no complaints. I wanted to capture the warmth of the moment along with the contrast of the colors as well as the early American charm. To do that I created part realism and part abstract. The first painting I have done in this manner.  I hope you enjoy "Quiet Time". This offering is limited to just ten Giclee paper prints in either 10x10 or 20x20.
